Peter Beadle At The Post Match Press Conference |
In his post match interview with Keith Hall, Beadle said he couldn't have asked any more of his players fot a lot of the games since he and Steve Jenkins have been in charge.
"They've been a credit to themselves with their attitude and the way they have worked," Beadle told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"We've believed in what we have tried to do to be the right things since me and Steve have come in.
"And today was the fruition of all that hard work the players have put in.
"They deserved to probably win by more than the odd goal because I thought we were exceptional in our play and possession. I thought we moved the ball fantastically well, some of our passing and movement was brilliant.
"We created chances and their keeper has had an absolutely outstanding day.
"I've said to them now you certainly deserved to win the game. It's a shame it wasn't by two or three more goals because that's what you deserved today.
"I thought we played quite well up to their goal but then after the goal we showed true character and came back and put in a performance.
"And today we had goals and chances and excitement which is what the fans want."
What did you say to the players at half-time?
"A few of them got a rocket because there were one or two who we felt could have done more. Certain aspects of their play and where we wanted them to be on the pitch.
"So we got that organised making sure the little triangle, the centre halves and Jamie in front of them organised themselves properly to make sure the big fellow (Akinde) wasn't as much of a problem. He's a problem, a huge lad with 19 goals this year. He showed his class with his finish today, he's a top striker.
"And we asked for a bit more patience in our play which they did.
"The movement and the passing leading up to Frankie's chance was very very good.
"Then after that it was wave after wave of possession and chances and today we've managed to put a few away.
"On the day we've had numberous chances and the pleasing thing is we've hit the target with a lot of them, we've made their keeper work.
"The big centre forward and the keeper were Alfreton's outstanding players today.
"The finishing was spot on, we hit the target every time pretty much and the law of averages says that if you keep hitting the target ones going to go in and today we've had three.
"I'm delighted for them."
Other results didn't go Hereford's way.
"It still in our hands, we've got to go to Aldershot now on Saturday and put the same performance in.
"If we get a result then we could be okay."
Hall then asked about youngster Jarrod Bowen.
"I think he has been a breath of fresh air since he's come in. He was a doubt before today. He took a nasty whack on his ankle on Friday and he was 50/50 yesterday.
"So to put in that performance after being 50/50 yesterday shows a lot about that young man's character and what he could achieve in this game.
"He's got a big future ahead of him if he keeps level headed and working as hard as he does.
"His finishing is fantastic. You wouldn't have known the boy is 17, he's only a kid but he put on a man's performance today and took his goal absolutely fantastic.
"What was really nice it was in front of the home fans, he's a Hereford boy so it was nice for him and I'm sure he'll remember that for a long time."
Finally a word about the supporters who really got behind the players this afternoon.
"As they've done since I've come in.
"First game at Barnet and every game after that they've followed the lads and stuck behind them and I think, like I said to the players, they will follow you as you as they see you doing the right things and you playing for the shirt.
"We gave them something to go home happy about, three points in the bag, the season's still alive.
"Hopefully they'll will come in numbers of Saturday and get behind them again."
