£4K Short Of Target

Hereford United are said to be just £4K short of the £78K required to pay the HMRC according to a report on BBC Hereford and Worcester this morning.

However it's not clear whether Ricky George's £1500 winnings on the Grand National have been included in the total.

George placed a £50 each way bet on Pineau De Re for the benefit of the club.

"I had the £50 each way at 25/1 and unbelieveably it came good, so £1500 has gone to the club," George told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I just tipped the horse I fancied, no science to it.

"I was at Cheltenham a few weeks ago and the horse finished third in a three mile hurdle but it finished so well and so fast that I just made a little note of it.

"That was the reason I backed it."
