News Round-Up

Forest Green's ambitious plan to field a side only comprising strikers has moved a step closer with the news that they are set to sign former York forward Jason Walker. The local press say that the 29 year old is training with the Gumpers, with a reserve outing on Wednesday rained off. Grimsby boss Paul Hurst has admitted defeat in trying to sign Walker, with Gillingham's ex-Dartford loanee Adam Birchall now one of his targets.

Wrexham have funds available for a new signing, according to Chief Executive Don Bircham. Dragons boss Andy Morrell will have both the freed wages and transfer fee from Adrian Cieslewicz's move to Kidderminster available to him. Lincoln boss Gary Simpson says he has lodged a bid for an unnamed Conference player as he looks to strengthen. The Imps' chairman Bob Dorrian put the offer to his counterpart at the unnamed club.

Former Bull Marlon Jackson is one of two new signings at Halifax. The striker is joined at The Shay by midfielder Craig Clay, who was released by York. Former Bull Mat Bailey has left Telford to rejoin Nantwich. The 6ft 5in defender/striker spent most of his time with the Bucks on loan with the Northern Premier League side.

Chester have allowed midfielder Ashley Williams to join WPL side Airbus on a permanent deal. Williams, 26, made the reverse move in 2011, making 86 appearances for the Blues. Hyde defender Luke Ashworth is reported to have rejected a contract offer from Wrexham. The 24 year old decided to stay part-time with the Tigers after talks with Andy Morrell.

Dartford have signed striker Alex Wall from Luton on an initial months loan. The 23 year old was prolific for Maidenhead before a move to the Hatters in March, but has mainly been used as a sub since. Gateshead have signed midfielder JJ O'Donnell on a months loan from Luton. The 22 year old has just finished a loan spell with Hyde.
