Coleman Expecting Better

Southport boss John Coleman is expecting better of his side when they travel to Edgar Street on Saturday.

Yesterday's draw with Hyde was Coleman's third stalemate from five games in charge at Haig Avenue, winning and losing one each of the other games.

After the game, he admitted Hyde were the better side: "I see it as two points dropped, but we didn't deserve to win. The one positive is that we've got a point without playing well, but I'm a believer in that if you draw too many games you get relegated.  We edged a point but Hyde played well and if either team deserved the win it was probably them."

Coleman has re-jigged the side since coming in a month ago, with four new signings replacing four departures. New arrival Ben Jefford won't make the trip to Edgar Street after being sent off late on for a second yellow yesterday.

One face who will be making the trip is former Bulls loanee Richard Brodie. The Gateshead man extended his loan with the Sandgrounders to the end of the season at the start of the month, but was hauled off after only 47 minutes of yesterday's game. The 26 year old has netted only once in seven games for the club, after one in eight matches for the Bulls.

A new training regime has come in, with Coleman and assistant Jimmy Ryan introducing morning training three times a week, but they remain with only one away win this season - at Hyde on their first trip of the season - and collected only two draws on the road.
