Goodison Arrested In Match Fixing Probe

Veteran defender Ian Goodison is the second Tranmere player to be arrested in the latest match fixing probe.

The National Crime Agency have named three Sodje brothers - Sam, Akpo, and Steve - Goodison, Oldham winger Cristian Montano, and DJ Campbell as the six arrested after the latest allegations over the weekend.

All but Goodison have been released on bail until April. The 41 year old Jamaican has spent nearly 10 years at Prenton Park, recently racking up his 400th appearance. He was sent off in October after an hour of a 4-0 home loss to Leyton Orient, with the game at 1-0 at the time. It was his first red card since being sent off against the Bulls in April 2009.

Update: Federbet, a Brussels-based watchdog for the gambling industry, claims that it has identified five games 'in the second tier of the Football Conference' that have been fixed. The organisation says it uses an 'infallible' system of detection of betting activity, which has identified 51 games across Europe.
