Mansfield boss Paul Cox has admitted that former Bull Sam Clucas may be leaving Field Mill for bigger things in the January transfer window.
After receiving just £20,000 - including a £5,000 sum for playing 15 games - for Clucas, the Bulls will be hoping for a windfall from their 15% sell-on clause to aid their financial situation.
The former Lincoln man netted his 11th goal of the season in their FA Cup draw with Oldham, putting them in the frame for a trip to face Liverpool at Anfield.
Cox told the Nottingham Post: "Sam's a good player – and good players are always going to command the attention.
"However, it's no secret that he's coveted by a lot of clubs. I'd like to keep him and I think the chairman would.
"He's the cornerstone, along with other young players like Clements, Tafazolli and Palmer, who you want to build a squad around.
"It wouldn't surprise me if we had bids, but you hope we can work extremely hard because he's a match-winner and puts backsides on seats.
"If the club wants to be proactive in building, then you have to keep your better young players who can be instrumental in helping you achieve what you want to achieve."
