Hereford United chairman David Keyte has given the Hereford Times an update on the financial situation at Edgar Street. More cuts are on the way.
"The monthly shortfall is around £30,000," said Keyte.
"The PAYE and the VAT are now on us - the FA Cup would have been a bonus,
we had that bonus last year but without that we are running on gates.
"We had 1,500 on Tuesday night which means that we shall bank £7-8,000
because there was a good proportion of away support who have paid cash.
"We have rearranged the Halifax match for Tuesday, November 26 and so we
will go into another pay-day with, maybe, £16,000 or £17,000 from the
gates.
"We are due another £5,000 for Sam Clucas and we have a similar figure
owed for catering work at the Cattle Market and that is how we go."
As reported on BN yesterday the new share issue has brought in around £40,000 to date.
"We now have to look at the possibility of using the revenue from the share issue to prop up the club's daily running costs."
Keyte played down the likelyhood of a substantial investor helping out.
"The usual names are bandied about here of people who will come and save the day.
"But they have been quite clear in the last couple of weeks that they
are not interested because, for one reason, they are not prepared to put
their head above the parapet and have the vitriol and abuse that seems
to go with it."
