Keyte Plans To Keep Foyle As Manager

Hereford United chairman David Keyte has praised Martin Foyle in advance of tomorrow's FA Cup-tie at Burton.

"I think Martin Foyle is a tremendous manager at this level," Keyte told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We plan to keep him as long as he wants to be here.

"And yet I think Martin would probably say there have been three or four (players) that haven't done it for him that he has brought in.

"That would be a frustration for him.

"We just need to believe that it is going to gel and it's going to work.

"It's taking a long time but we still believe that we'll get on a little bit of a run that will get us a few points and get up the league.

"He's not under pressure for his job although he might feel that because that is natural. Rightly or wrongly it happens in football and we've been involved in it even in my short time here.

"Martin is the third, fourth if you count Richard O'Kelly, manager in but he knows his stuff in the Conference.

"He has a style, he knows how to get results.

"We've not had a lot of luck with injuries to key people.

"On a condensed budget and therefore squad you need as many of your best eleven available on a Saturday as you can get.

"People like Kingsley James and Michael Rankine, we're missing those when they are not there."

Then the interview turned to the importance of the FA Cup.

"It is cash. It's what we haven't got enough of at the moment and it can turn your season.

"We don't budget for it so it is a bonus whatever comes through. We've got £12,500 just arrived from the Hornchurch round.

"We're disappointed it wasn't a glamorous tie we're looking for.

"It would have been nice to have been at home to somebody we felt we ought to get past or a big one like a Wolves or a Portsmouth but it wasn't to be so we're off to Burton.

"It's the FA Cup. It's ninety minutes. Let's hope for the best." .
