Burton Boss Up For Curse

Burton manager Gary Rowett is among the nominees for the League Two Manager of the Month award.

The Brewers won four of five matches in October, with the prize winner being named on Friday. Rowett's side lost 1-0 to Morecambe at home on Saturday, with Brewers fans taking to the local paper's website to complain about being bullied out of a game yet again.

Midfielder Robbie Weir told the local press that his side hadn't worked out why they were struggling at home: “The home record hasn’t been the best, we haven’t had the rub of the green here. Away from home, teams give us more space but we struggle at home.

“Teams are doing a lot more work on us when they come to the Pirelli. We can’t put our finger on it.”

Rowett said that the Shrimps stifled their play: “It’s very difficult to pass through them with the way they play. They had Stewart Drummond sitting in there, an extra man in midfield and it was always going to be difficult to pass it around them or through them."

The Brewers lost four home games in the entirety of last season, a figure already matched this term, with Rowett adding that they had to 'bludgeon' their way back into games at times:

“The times we’ve come back into games at home and got points it’s when we’ve kind of bludgeoned it a little bit rather than crafting it in the way we would want.

“I don’t think we can put a finger on it."
