Hornchurch Have No Trouble Scoring

Led by manager Jimmy McFarlane, AFC Hornchurch are full of confidence and goals ahead of their game with the Bulls on Saturday.

McFarlane, who made over 600 appearances for near neighbours Thurrock as a player, joined the club in 2006 as a player before moving up to the Manager's role at the newly formed club, having risen from the ashes of the free spending Hornchurch side that went bust in 2005.

Last season they were relegated after a single season in Conf South, their first at that level, while they sit second in the Ryman League Premier this term having lost only once in 13 league games, netting 31 goals in the process.

Top scorer is Stefan Payne with 9 goals, with George Purcell having netted eight times. Payne, 22, played against the Bulls for Ebbsfleet last season, netting twice in 14 Conference appearances before ending the season with a pair of red cards. He was also sent off in their FA Trophy loss to Hemel Hempstead, but remains eligible for Saturday's game. As a teenager Fulham paid out a six-figure fee for him, but he was released after a season.

Much travelled Purcell, 25, had three years in the Conference with Ebbsfleet before hitting form with Braintree and earning a move to York. After only one sub appearance he returned south, appearing for a string of sides before joining the Urchins this summer.
