A Hereford United supporter was in the Civil Service squad which played a game of football at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.
The supporter has been named as 25 year old James Cutler.
According to the Daily Telegraph, 'the team's centre half is a PhD student researching the enduring popularity and cultural legacy of Dickens, the Brontes and Hardy, and a big Hereford United fan.'
The Civil Service team were pitched against Polytechnic FC who won the game 2-1.
The game was staged as part of the FA's 150th anniversary. It was refereed by Howard Webb.
Updated Tuesday 9.30am:
James Cutler didn't take part in the game yesterday.
"He would have been playing for Civil Service but for 'an inept jobsworth referee' quote," said Rob Powell, who like James is a member of the Tupsley Whites.
