Accrington chairman Peter Marsden has warned the club will cease to exist if fans do not turn up to support the side.
Like the Bulls, Stanley dropped prices in the summer in a bid to increase attendances but have seen little reward for their efforts. Gates have steadily fallen in recent seasons, and they are only averaging a similar number to last season thanks to the early visit of Portsmouth, which drew a gate of 2,531, while other gates have hovered around the 1,200 mark.
Marsden told the local press: “We have the cheapest tickets in League Two and we would have thought a lot more people would have taken advantage of that.
“We lowered prices because many people are finding themselves in difficult economic circumstances and we wanted them to be able to afford to come.
“Unfortunately ticket sales are down on last year and this season is becoming the worst ever for attendances.
“I say, do people still want there to be an Accrington Stanley? It is like a dripping tap at the moment, the longer you put it off the worse it will get. If it goes on like this for months and months there won’t be an Accrington Stanley.”
Marsden's comments come only a week after he dismissed a winding-up order over an unpaid tax bill as 'an administrative thing'.
