News Round-Up


Coventry chief executive Tim Fisher says the club may reconsider a return to the Ricoh Arena if a deal including ownership of the stadium is reached. He also admitted that the attendance at Sixfields for their first 'home' game was 'at the lower ends of our estimates'. Meanwhile, he refused to confirm whether they are paying more for Sixfields than the £150,000 offer to use the Ricoh Arena that was made two weeks ago. Football League chairman Greg Clarke has also admitted that he has no idea whether the club will build a new stadium and return to the city.

The Conference have declined to comment at this stage on a sponsorship deal at Farnborough that has seen them finally move out of Administration. A bookmakers has struck a deal with the club, reported to be six figures, for their players to legally change their names by deed poll to that of a string of ex-footballers like Gary Lineker and Pele. The bookmaker are understood to have approached an unnamed fifth tier side first, but were rejected.

Portsmouth blogger Mike Hall, now the club's Fan Engagement Officer, says he is facing bankruptcy over legal action brought by former club bidder Pascal Najadi. Hall got the action struck out and is chasing the litigant through court for costs, but he has gone to ground in Russia after his father was assassinated - leaving Hall with a £20,000 legal bill to foot. Ahead of last night's matches, Luton managed to overturn defender Steve McNulty's red card received in their loss to Southport at the weekend. 

Barnet have released midfielder Dominic Vose by mutual consent. The 19 year old former West Ham trainee joined the club in February, but made only two appearances.
