Harris Nets Double On Paulton Debut

Striker Jake Harris scored twice as Paulton Rovers opened their season with a 5-0 win at Godalming Town.

With captain Cleverley running the midfield engine room, on thirty seven minutes the breakthrough came to make it 2-0. Right back Stuart Tovey took a quick throw to Lacey who raced and dribbled past his marker to pull the ball back to debutant striker Jake Harris on loan from Hereford United, who made no mistake from twelve yards out.

Three minutes later Harris a former Somerset U18's colleague of Rovers winger Ben Lacey hit an early contender of goal of the season.

Centre half Scott Brice played a ball out of defence to Harris who turn and from thirty yards out, hit a screamming curly shot into the top right hand corner of the net. Truly an amazing goal for those watching and drew applause not only from the twenty five hardy Paulton fans, but from over a hundred home supporters who roundly applauded the quality of this goal.

Harris played 63 minutes before being subbed. His agent, Ash Dye, commented on Harris on his site:

"Jake loves to score goals, and we're not surprised at all to see him start with a brace. He is a Conference standard forward, so he is expected to score goals at this level during his fitness-gaining spell, and we push him each week to score as many as possible."

"He has been in good form, scoring in every pre-season game he's been involved in, and he has scored 2 fine goals yesterday. Jake obviously wants to break into Hereford's side as quickly as possible, but this move to Paulton is fantastic. They're a good club, with a good gaffer, so we owe it to them to ensure Jake repays their work with goals & good performances."
