A report on last night's game from new contributor, Seeblocker.
The
first pre-season game on home turf resulted in a pleasing display so early on in
pre-season. Hereford seemed a strong side most the time and were unlucky to be
at the wrong end of the only goal in the game.
The
first real action of the game was two Bristol corners but both were easily dealt
with. A few more shots were to follow, but nothing to even challenge Bulls’
keeper – believed to be Rhys Evans.
Hereford
soon got attacking and won several corners each time challenging Bristol’s
keeper. McDonald had a few great chances from these corners. On the 31 minute
mark, Walker used the outside of his boot to take a shot but this was cleared
for a corner. Walker’s chance was followed by a some good chances all getting
cleared by Bristol’s not-so-strong defence.
Bristol
had a few good runs with the ball being cleared by Hereford’s organised
defence. On 41 minutes, after a clearance by Hereford’s number 2 – a trialist,
a Bristol corner resulted in Hereford’s keeper tipping it over the bar.
HT; 0-0
The
second half saw a whole load of substitution being made by both managers. A few
half chances were created by Hereford just after the break. These were followed
a free kick 25 yards out by 19 – rumoured to be Steve Leslie, the shot was well
over; Bristol free kick.
Bush
then did an impressive run down the wing before getting tackled and the ball
going out for a Herford corner. The tables soon turned but the long pass by
Bristol was easily gobbled up by Lloyd-Weston.
The second half saw chances for both sides and Bristol’s shot on 63 minutes was easily saved by the Bulls’ stopper. Bristol had a few more chances from just outside the 18 yard box but all were gobbled up by Lloyd-Weston. A Bristol run down the flank was easily dealt with by Bush who looked decent throughout
Hereford
soon got attacking again but the balls were cleared with desperate hoof balls
from the visitors. After a Hereford goal kick, 2 impressive headers inside 18
yards and the shot cancelled by Bristol’s keeper Mildenhall.
Bristol soon had the chance to score but a good deflection for Lloyd-Weston fell to the feet of Clarkson on 74 minutes.
Hereford’s
strikers kept pushing and pressurising their opponents followed by a few wide
shots. More chances appeared for both sides but none managing to convert.
Bristol corners were easily dealt with.
