Substantial Policing Operation For Newport Visit

West Mercia Police will be out in force tomorrow evening around Hereford City Centre for the visit of Newport County to Edgar Street.

A significant policing operation is in place ahead of Hereford United’s game against Newport County tomorrow (Tuesday, 5 March).
The fixture – which kicks off at 7.45pm - will attract one of the biggest crowds of the season at the Edgar Street stadium and police are anxious that supporters can enjoy the occasion without incident.
West Mercia Police has issued a warning that anyone causing trouble is likely to be arrested, charged and put before the courts.
Chief Inspector Adam Thomas said: “There will be a substantial policing operation to ensure that genuine supporters from both sides can enjoy the game in safety without interference.
“I would like to remind Newport County supporters that they will require a valid match ticket for this fixture at this time and that they should check the Newport County website for further information: www.newport-county.co.uk.
“There have been very few problems at Edgar Street this season and our aim is to ensure that tomorrow’s game is equally trouble free.”

Newport have said they expect around 1200 of their supporters will travel to watch the match.
