Cheltenham Threaten To Evict Tenants

Cheltenham have threatened to evict tenants Gloucester City after the Conf South side stopped paying rent.

The Tigers are reported by the local press to owe £20,000 after payments to the Robins stopped at the turn of the year. Chairman Paul Baker has given the Tigers, who have been groundsharing at various venues since 2007, until the end of March to settle the debt or they will no longer be allowed to use the stadium.

If they are evicted, the future of the club would be bleak. They are due to sign an extension to their Whaddon Road stay into a fourth year, but the Robins say that offer will be withdrawn if the debt isn't settled.

Conference rules require the club to have an agreement in place by the end of the month or face a summer expulsion, while plans for their own new ground are on the verge of collapse.
