News Round-Up

The Football League have reiterated that they will not consider a second bidder for Portsmouth after Keith Harris submitted a revised bid yesterday. His new offer includes handing 15% of the club to the fans free of charge, and cutting season ticket prices. The Supporters Trust has rejected the plan, saying they are on course to take over the club with their court hearing due to start on Thursday.

Luton have loaned defender Alex Lacey to Eastbourne for the remainder of the season. Lacey, 19, was on the bench as the Hatters lost to Millwall on Saturday. They have also allowed teenage forward Jake Woolley to join Hitchin for a month after four sub appearances for the first team this season. Woking have signed Wimbledon keeper Seb Brown on a months loan. The 23 year old had been the Wombles regular keeper for three years until veteran Neil Sullivan took over in November.

Swindon expect their takeover to be approved by the Football League today, but manager Paolo Di Canio quit last night. The local press says the consortium includes a former Luton director, who was involved in the club at the time of their illegal payments scandal but was not one of those charged over the affair. The Robins can go top of League One tonight if they beat Tranmere.

Former Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has topped a poll to be Lincoln's  new manager in a local newspaper. Simpson was previously Keith Alexander's assistant at Sincil Bank and had a spell as caretaker boss while he was ill. Seventeen people have been charged with offences after violence before a Lincoln-Luton match last October. Most have been charged with violent disorder, with two facing breaches of banning orders.

Gateshead chairman Graham Wood believes the club has lost over £50,000 in gate receipts and sponsorship after having to switch their remaining home games to Hartlepool's Victoria Ground. Tamworth have signed midfielder Jake Hessenthaler on a youth loan from Gillingham. The son of Gills Director of Football Andy, teenager Jake has been on the bench for the Gills but is yet to debut for the first team.
