Dodd Backs Call For Council To Pay Out Bond

HUISA chairman Keith Dodd has backed the campaign led by BN to get the Herefordshire Council to pay out the remaining part of the £100,000 bond lodged by Formsole back in 1998. The bond was meant to help pay for the refurbishment of the burnt-out Sportsmans Club.

In an article in today's Hereford Times he explains his view.

Part of my role at the club has been to assist Dave Preedy and Ellen Moore in running the Starlite Rooms, which are bringing in the sort of off-field income which the club has not had for years.

I help out by booking the entertainment for the monthly cabaret and tribute nights and I’m also a key-holder so I go down to lock up twice a week.

The reopening of the club has brought a huge boost to the cash-flow but we will also be bringing pressure to bear on Herefordshire Council about the £100,000 bond which was placed concerning the re-building of the supporters’ club.

That was clearly recorded in HUISA’s minutes and while we know that £18,000 was used for office refurbishment, the remainder would come in very handy just to complete one or two things which would turn the Starlite Rooms into the sort of top-class function and cabaret room which I do not believe is available anywhere else in the city.
