Plymouth have appointed veteran manager John Ward as their Director of Football. The 61 year old will assist manager Carl Fletcher with the Pilgrims just three points clear of the League Two drop zone. Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish says his team lacks the physical presence to compete in the Conference. He told the BBC that he will look in the January window for players who are more "streetwise".

The Non-League paper says a Welsh side has made an application to join the North West Counties League. The unnamed applicant joins Widnes and an Isle of Man side in making bids to join the pyramid. Weymouth have rejected proposals to leave their current stadium, so the owners can build 200 houses on the site. The club say they have requested a number of guarantees over a potential move but have been offered none.

Tamworth have signed former Liverpool youth defender Connor Roberts-Nurse. The free agent is cup-tied for the forthcoming FA Trophy match as he played for Vauxhall Motors in a previous round. The FA have confirmed that they are investigating referee Darren Deadman for an alleged two-fingered gesture aimed at Southend fans during the Shrimpers' draw at Fleetwood on Saturday. A photographer caught the alleged gesture and several fans and club officials lodged complaints.
