Peters - A Luxury The Club Can't Afford

At the shareholders meeting earlier this week chairman David Keyte said he had spoken to Gary Peters, the Hereford United director of football, about whether he would consider leaving the club.

However Keyte was told he wouldn't leave unless his contract was paid up and the club can't afford to sack him.

The club haven't got any money to bring any players in, so it seems Peters only task is to look at whoever is the next team to play the Bulls.

Peters has been in football a long time and will surely understand how desperate the financial situation is at Edgar Street.

In fact just after his appointment he spoke about the task facing him.

"We have to be totally transparent with the supporters and make sure everyone is aware that the budget at this football club isn't very high."

So, given that fact, why did he give the nod to offering or extending contracts of certain players, such as Michael Townsend, Will Evans and Simon Clist all on Football League terms.

In truth hiring Peters to help out was probably understandable at the time. But subsequently he's become part of the problem.

And is now an expensive luxury the club can't afford.
