Ketye Talks About The Shrewsbury Cup-tie

In an interview with BBC Hereford United late this afternoon, David Keyte has given his view of the forthcoming FA Cup-tie against Shrewsbury Town.

"First thought was oh!," said the Hereford United chairman.

"We really thought that the lowest club left at home would get us through and take some prize money.

"However Shrewsbury Town is a great draw for us.

" (A sell-out)That's what we are hoping.

"If we can generate the interest, I think it's there not least on last weeks news about our financial difficulties.

"A lot of people want to come and help. Just getting to that game would be an obvious one.

"Graham coming back with five or six ex-players and half his management team.

"You never know, it's the FA Cup and we might just sneak past that one.

"Television would be huge. We would get £65,000. Without perhaps £25K from the gate.

"I think we may miss out (on the TV money) because they do tend to follow viewing figures. Herefordshire and Shropshire are not the biggest populations."

The Bulls play Shrewsbury on the weekend of November 3/4 and then Luton at Edgar Street on the following Tuesday.

"It's an extra home match but it does give us another Saturday/Tuesday run of fixtures which is difficult for our supporters having to find the money for two matches.

"We've been looking today at giving them a bit of help with a double match ticket which we will get out tomorrow or Wednesday.

"The Luton match is just as big in the league fixtures.

"It was marked down in the budget as our biggest home fixtures a they might bring 700/800 on a Saturday. Midweek on a Tuesday could be 250/300 which is a shame."

Luton as well as Shrewsbury have some former Hereford players in their squad.

"It will be a weekend of 'all our yesterdays"!
