Chairman David Keyte has said that administration is the last resort for cash-strapped Hereford United.
"We are going through a stage of telling the fans the situation we're in and giving them a chance to help,"Keyte told the Hereford Times.
"We will then assess things and see if the club is financially viable."
Hopefully the forthcoming FA Cup game against Shrewsbury will be a money-spinner.
"We need to fill the ground and fans can help us by buying their tickets early.
"Maybe fans, on the day of the game, can buy a ticket, a programme and have a pint in the supporters club."
Meanwhile Keyte's horse Harry Topper came first in the 4.40pm race at Exeter yesterday. The prize money was £3893.80 and odds were 11/4.
Harry Topper was bred by Keyte and named by his father.
