The Bulls entertain Cambridge United on Saturday in a vital Conference match at Edgar Street.
It is more than six and a half years since the U's visited Edgar Street, leaving with a 3-0 beating thanks to Adam Stansfield and an Andy Williams double. It followed up the only other Conference clash between the sides, when the U's won in front of the TV cameras 2-1 at the Abbey Stadium with Guy Ipoua scoring the Bulls goal. Overall, honors are fairly even between the sides with the U's having won one more match with just four draws in 25 encounters since 1972.
The Bulls have lost the services of both Tristam Plummer and Tom Nichols over the past week after a pair of disappointing performances on the road. Boss Martin Foyle is still seeking to 'shuffle the pack' and has made a number of enquiries for new faces over the past ten days and some movement is hoped for before the 11am deadline on Saturday morning for new signings. With confirmation coming earlier today that Sean Canham missed last week's match with injury, the Bulls could be light up front without at least one new face.
Cambridge boss Jez George has shrugged off doubts over his future despite the club's slow start to the campaign. With three players on the naughty step and several others on the physio's waiting list, George moved into the loan market bringing in striker Michael Thalassitis from Stevenage. The teenager netted three times in five games for Hayes and Yeading at the back end of last season and scored his first Stevenage goal against Southampton in the League Cup.
Hereford United vs Cambridge United, Edgar Street, Saturday 22nd September, 3.00pm.
