News Round-Up

Former Bulls winger Joe Colbeck netted a hat-trick as Grimsby opened their pre-season campaign with a 12-3 win over local side Grimsby Borough, a team from a league five divisions below the Conference. Southport are trialling defenders Chris Lynch, from Stalybridge, and Louis Barnes, from Marine. The Sandgrounders also have Marine striker Steven Tames in for training.

Former Bulls striker Nathan Elder says he rejected offers from Midlands sides to sign for Ebbsfleet, who are close to his family home. The Fleet are expecting a financial windfall after former defender Michael Bostwick moved to Peterboro from Stevenage, with the club entitled to 15% of the undisclosed fee. Kidderminster striker Jamille Matt is reported to be training with Sheff Utd. Harriers say they have not given permission for the player to trial with the Blades, with his immigration status still to be resolved.

Lincoln have told Cambridge that striker Sam Smith is not for sale after rejecting two bids for the former Rushden man. The Imps are expecting a third bid of £25,000 from the U's. Meanwhile, boss David Holdsworth has been priced out of moves for both Exodus Geoghaghon and John Dempster. Geoghaghon joined Kidderminster, while Dempster is mulling over an offer from Mansfield. The Imps will also face a tribunal for defender Andy Boyce after failing to agree a fee with Gainsborough.

Gateshead have signed Dunfermline defender Patrick Boyle on an initial six month loan. The 25 year old former Everton trainee will sign a permanent deal if he impresses during the spell. Portsmouth's hopes of securing a buyer have been dealt a blow after Kanu lodged a claim with the Football League for "millions" that he says the club owes him. If the FL agrees with his claim the debt will be paid out of the TV revenue due to the club that is currently the only thing keeping them afloat.

Barnet are expected to move to Harrow for the 2013/14 season after local council planning officials there backed a move to their Hive training base in the area for a ten year period. Any move still needs passing by the full council, as well as Football League approval. It will cost up to £24 for Adult admission at Shrewsbury for the coming season. The club have called the price rises 'modest'.

Luton have signed Brighton midfielder Yaser Kasim on loan until the January transfer window. The 21 year old Iraqi has limited first team experience, playing only once last season.
