Gillingham have appointed Martin Allen as their new manager on a two year deal.
The lunatic former Cheltenham and Barnet manager is reported by the Gills to have been the unanimous choice of the club's board after they had meetings with sixteen different candidates, many of them more than once, in the two months since parting company with Andy Hessenthaler.
Allen has already told the bulk of the existing backroom staff he will be bringing his own people in, with only newly installed Director of Football Hessenthaler remaining.
