Macc Set To Appoint King

Macclesfield have appointed Steve King as their new manager.

The former Lewes, Farnboro, and Northwich boss was expected to be unveiled on Friday before a last-minute hitch, but has now been unveiled this afternoon.

The impending appointment of King had not gone down too well with Silkmen fans. King was suspended from his last job, at Lewes, pending an internal investigation and subsequently left the club 'by mutual consent' with neither side revealing details of the complaint.

King also has a dubious record of overspending, with all three of the sides he has been in charge of suffering serious financial problems shortly after his departure.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield are reported to have released midfielder Matt Hamshaw. The 30 year old claimed on Twitter that the club sent him a letter rather than telling him of his release but later removed the tweet, replacing it with a simple message confirming his departure.
