Keyte Wants O'Kelly To Stay

David Keyte has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he wants Richard O'Kelly to stay as manager of the Bulls.

In his post match interview chairman Keyte also confirmed that he has put £250K into the Edgar Street club since last October.

"Mixed emotions in that we played really well first half and almost gave it away second half which we've seen a lot this season," said Keyte.

"Having said that we've come through and got the win that we had to get.

"But looking up the road to Burton and Barnet have done their job up there.

"We've done what we can in the last couple of weeks but it's 46 matches we have to look back on.

"We didn't seem to get the immediate lift that you get quite often from a managerial change but Richard O'Kelly got them playing well in the last month, five matches probably.

"But we're two points adrift and we can all look back and see two points."

Keyte was asked by Keith Hall if he had spoken about the future to O'Kelly.

"We had a brief chat last week and we've agreed to sit down the middle of next week.

"I guess Richard must have an open-mind.

"He's good at his job. He, perhaps, didn't have enough matches here.

"Does he want to take on a club in the Conference? Who knows, it will be his decision.

"I've already said to him that we want him to be manager.

"His previous experience with Hereford was in the Conference.

"The decision will be with Richard. It may be he will say thanks for the chance but I'm not a manager, or I want to stay in the Football League, or yes give me the job."

Keyte has had to deep deep into his own pocket in recent months because the club was spending much than its income.

"I've put £250,000 in since October and we know we are going down by £400,000 in terms of Football League grants.

"It does hurt."
