Championship clubs have finally agreed to similar financial rules that are currently in force with other Football League clubs.
Each individual division will decide the exact makeup of their own rules, but for Championship clubs next season they will 'only' be allowed to lose £4million, reducing to £2million in the 2015/16 season. Club owners will only be able to plough £8million a year into a side, dropping eventually to £2million, with sanctions including fines, transfer embargoes, or other penalties available for breaches of the new rules.
League One and Two sides will continue with their Salary Cost Management Protocol scheme, which allows only a specific percentage of turnover to be spent on player wages. The actual percentage will vary between the divisions with League Two continuing at 55% and League One 65% for the 2012/13 season.
