Richard O'Kelly told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he felt the Bulls started this afternoon's game at Accrington 'well'.
"We passed the ball, moved it round," said the Hereford United manager.
"Then they got a foot-hold in the game and they started to exploit us on the wide areas.
"I was probably a little bit slow changing the tactics but we went to match them up.
"But we hadn't conceeded at half-time and there are never two halves of football the same.
"Unfortunately we conceeded quite quickly.
"What pleased me was the energy and enthusiasm they showed to get back into the game.
"A lovely strike, a bit of impetus, I thought all three subs gave us a bit of impetus.
"It was disappointing to lose in the manner we did with a goal that's been replicated the last two or three times."
Next up for the Bulls is Barnet on Friday evening.
"It's a big game which has become even bigger."
O'Kelly gave credit to Accrington.
"They did their jobs today, they moved the ball around.
"It's probably not the best playing surface in the league but the way they played football, you've got to give them credit."
Finally O'Kelly was very pleased with the level of support given the horrible wet conditions.
"I couldn't thank them enough. I was over the moon about their support.
"I thought it was first-class the way they stood there in the rain and at the end of the game to applaud the players off.
"That sort of support on Friday night will be good for everybody."
