News Round-Up

Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio and striker Paul Benson have been named the Manager and Player of the Month respectively. The Robins won all five of their February games, with Benson scoring five times. Dagenham have signed forward Josh Parker on a months loan from Oldham. The 21 year old comes in with fellow striker Josh Scott facing a four match ban for his sending off on Tuesday. The Daggers have also loaned reserve striker Adam Cunnington to Alfreton for a month.

Crawley have signed veteran striker Gary Alexander on loan for the remainder of the season with a view to a permanent summer move. The 32 year old has scored 14 times for the Bees this season. Bristol Rovers are to submit the planning application for their new stadium later today. The 21,700 seat stadium will be built on land next to the nearby University.

Bradford have extended the contracts of strikers Ross Hannah and Nahki Wells into next season. The club exercised clauses in the pair's current deals to extend for another 12 months. Plymouth's programme has been declared the best in League Two by the programme collectors' magazine. Swindon won the award for best design.

Gillingham are down to 'bare bones' for tomorrow's game with Crewe, with defender Curtis Weston expected to be out long term after he was told he needed surgery on a knee problem. The Gills have also asked for witnesses that saw the challenge that broke Garry Richards' leg. Barnet's Izale McLeod was subbed at half time in their game on Tuesday and is under suspicion of deliberately causing the injury, a claim he denies, but video evidence does not show the clash.

Grimsby chairman John Fenty has told the local press the club 'simply can't break even whatever the football budget is'. He has assumed a controlling interest in the club after a midweek vote, and will continue to fund losses - but only to a limited level. Wimbledon have signed Brentford defender Pim Balkestein on loan for an initial month. The 24 year old Dutchman spent the first half of the season on loan at Rochdale.

Gillingham's hopes of signing defender Jonathan Fortune have ended after the former Charlton man signed for Exeter instead. The Gills needed to offload players to sign the 31 year old, but failed to do so allowing Exeter to pounce. Northampton manager Aidy Boothroyd has threatened to fine midfielder Luke Guttridge two weeks wages if he refuses to play against former side Aldershot tomorrow. Guttridge left the Shots in January, with Shots boss Dean Holdsworth saying he has a 'gentleman's agreement' with Guttridge not to play against them.
