Former Bulls loanee Josh Gowling has backed Mark McCammon in his racial discrimination claim against Gillingham.
The former Bournemouth man spent two years at Priestfield, leaving last summer, and has claimed that McCammon was actually sacked by the club in January 2011, five months before his contract expired. Gillingham's official statements at the time claimed McCammon was released at the end of his contract in June.
Responding to questions on Twitter as to whether there was something in McCammon's claims, Gowling responded "Unfortunately, yes." before adding “I was at the club and we were all told he was sacked in jan 2011. Mark was sacked in january and he followed correct procedure to deal with this situation. So its been going on that long.”
McCammon joined Gowling at Lincoln last week, however his transfer has been held up as former club Braintree have retained his registration.
