(Report from Up-The-Bulls)
With the early possesion very much split between the two sides it was Wigan who had the first chance with Lynch breaking down the left hand side and Meadows putting the resulting cross over the bar.
A throw in from the left hand side allowed Wigan striker, Bingham to break into the box before striking against the post from an acute angle.
First card of the game came after just ten minutes with a very strong challenge from Wigan centre half Andrew Mason on Hereford striker Jack Biggs.
The free kick was easily cleared by the Wigan defence and allowed for a break away. Hereford managing to hold the initial attack before a free kick been given against Jon Honey down by the right hand corner flag.
Free kick was cleared before Wigan put the ball back into the box, a clever flick allowed for Ryan Meadows to volley home one on one with the keeper from the six yard box.
Pressure from Hereford allowed for Jon Honey to intercept from just outside the box before placing the shot which Wigan's keeper got back into position to save with his feet. An earlier shot would've no doubt resulted in a goal.
Hereford United corner on the far side is headed out before being collected by Joe Tumelty. His poor pass is intercepted and allows for a Wigan break away; with numbers over that of Hereford, Wigan striker, Rakish Bingham is left unmarked and duly slots past Hereford keeper Tony Knight.
The majority then of the first half was spread for chances until just before the half time whistle a corner was whipped into the back post before a Wigan youngster heading back across goal allowing Wigan centre half Andrew Mason to slot home from near on the goal line.
Half time whistle blows with Hereford 3 - 0 down.
The ability isn't too different just Hereford lacking a bit of composure. The defence at times has looked shakey but we've certainly had our changes. Will need a very big second half to get back into this.
Start of the second half was unfortunately missed due to cueing for a cup of tea to warm ones hands up - The important thing is no goals were missed.
The first change of the game has come after around twenty minutes gone with Giorgio Sneekes coming on for Jordan Marks.
Soon after the change a chance fell to a Wigan midfielder who took it well but Tony Knight managed to parry over the bar.
The second chance of the second half fell to Wigan again with Rakish Bingham showing tremedous pace to get beyond Hereford's back line but his shot sailed wide of the mark.
Some three minutes later saw the second card of the game with Hereford's Karl McGurk being booked for a tough challenge just into the Hereford half.
A fantastic ball thread through the Wigan defence from Joe Tumelty sent Giorgio Sneekes on his way and cutting back leaving two players in his wake just left him to slot past the keeper, unfortunately a weak shot was saved very easily.
Not long after saw Wigan left winger Jonathan Lynch go through on goal but his shot went wide.
Ryan Jones on for Jack Biggs was the second change of the game and this nearly saw an immediate impact on the scoreline with Jones putting Feeley in on goal, his shot going just wide.
It was Wigan to make the changes now, Patrick Christian and Joel Kerwin came off to be replaced by Omar Thompson and Luke Aincough.
Around one minute late, Wigan went further ahead with Jonathan Lynch putting Wigan 4 - 0 ahead. He was then instantly bought off for Bradley Anderson.
Sean Bowden picks up a booking with just one minute left on the clock. Ref blows for Full Time - 4 - 0 Wigan.
Around 120 in attendance.
Wigan; Hare, Gibson, Waters, Christian, Astles, Mason, Kerwin, Chow, Bingham, Meadows, Lynch.
Hereford; Knight, Bowden, Godfrey, Perkins, McGurk, Honey, Feeley, Tumelty, Hunt, Marks, Biggs.
The difference between the two sides was ultimately Wigan's ability to keep the ball and composure on it. The scoreline doesn't reflect the true game though and Hereford certainly had there chances with one goal being ruled out just before half time when Hereford were 2 - 0 down.
