Port Vale are giving up their Christmas to travel to Herefordshire ready for the Boxing Day game at Edgar Street.
"Maybe if the time of the match hadn't been moved forward we would have gone down on the morning, but we've got to make sure we prepare right," said defender Adam Yates as reported by the Staffordshire press.
"You can't have a drink. Maybe Micky Adams would not find out, but you'd still be letting him down, yourself down, the fans and the team.
"Perhaps it's not ideal, but you can enjoy the festivities however you want after you've retired from football. We haven't really got too much to moan about.
"If we can get another three points it will be a good Christmas for me."
