Speaking at this evenings HUISA fans forum, Hereford United director of football Gary Peters said he was worried that the club might be given a transfer embargo by the Football League.
The FL are due to visit the club on December 19th to check whether the club is working within the 55% rule.
However should a transfer embargo be placed on the club Peters felt that he had sufficient players to get by.
He told the meeting, which was attended by around 100 supporters, that chairman David Keyte had paid a cheque of £36K from his own resources last month for wages. It wasn't made clear whether this was a loan to the club or whether the chairman would want the money back sometime in the future, but it illustrated the current problem the club has with lower than budgeted gates.
At the start of the meeting Peters was asked he if had signed his contract and then he explained that his salary was being paid for by the chairman and not by the club.
"I've signed my contract," said Peters
"Probably a month ago.
"I've come here, I've got a job to do, I'm really enjoying the job, It's a great challenge. I've got two more seasons after this one.
"I've been brought in by the chairman and the vice-chairman to help them because they are new to the game.
"They bought the club at the start of last season and it's fairly refreshing that they said they had made a lot of mistakes and they need help as well.
"They need to look at the whole side of the football thing and I sit down with them regularily. A lot of my work is on that side of the fence.
"My wages are paid by the chairman, not by the football club. Which is the way he wanted to do it. He wanted to bring me in to help that side of it. He didn't want to put an extra burden on the football club.
"Even now I've already paid my wages by the money I've saved. I will save the club at least what they are paying me and a lot more besides by the different way we do things at the football club and the way we deal with contracts and things like that.
"I wish I had been doing it at the start of last season and so does the chairman."
