Barnet Ask FL For Ground Leeway

Barnet have confirmed they have asked the Football League for permission to possibly leave Underhill midway through next season.

Usually the Football League require a side to nominate their home ground each season and to remain at that ground for the full term. The Bees are to seek permission for a possible move due to an ongoing impasse with the local council over ground surrounding their Underhill home.

The club has leases on the council-owned land that expires in 12 months, leaving the Bees unable to gain vehicular access to parts of the ground afterwards. This would force them to close parts of the stadium on safety grounds, limiting capacity and falling foul of FL ground regulations. A club statement claims the local council have refused to negotiate over their valuation of the lease.

Should the Bees fail to agree new leases they may have to leave this summer unless the FL agree to a mid-season switch.
