With Adam Bartlett suffering from a thigh strain, goalkeeping coach Russell Hoult had to be drafted into Hereford United's starting eleven this evening.
It wasn't his night with Maccclesfield putting four goal past him although to be fair they were not all his fault. And he did pull off several good saves in the first period.
It is not yet clear how bad Bartlett's injury is and whether he will be fit enough to start at Wimbledon on Saturday.
However it's likely manager Jamie Pitman will need to bring in some cover at least in the short-term.
Just to make matters worse it is understood reserve keeper Dan Connor isn't likely to play for the Bulls again because of continual injury problems.
Meanwhile left back Joe Heath had to be subbed during the first half. He appeared to suffer a nasty injury.
