League Two 'Price of Football'

BBC Sport have surveyed all football clubs in League Two and Hereford United comes out as the seventh cheapest ground to watch a game.

The survey took into account the ticket price, the programme, the cost of a pie and a cup of coffee. In all the total came to £20.50.

Rotherham came out as the cheapest at £16.30. However the survey doesn't take into account that the view at the Don Valley stadium is poor given there is an athletic track around the pitch.

Torquay came out as the second cheapest at £16.50.

There are a number of points to take into account when looking at the results of the survey. Prices for tickets are the cheapest at the ground and are seldom available to away supporters.

Secondly it's uncertain how up to date the survey is. For example a cup of tea at Edgar Street is said to cost 80 pence. However it's more like £1.50 these days.

Finally the quality of pies is not taken into account. It's probably fair to say that the best pies in League Two can be purchased at Edgar Street.

UPDATE: It appears that much of the information in the survey seems to have relied on clubs filling out a form rather than any actual investigation.

For example the £10 ticket at Rotherham only applies to Carling Cup matches.

It may be that if the price of a League match is taken into account then Hereford United would be one of if not the cheapest venues to watch football in League Two.
