Hereford United chairman David Keyte has revealed that the first time he saw a stripper was in the Starlight Club at Edgar Street. Whilst he didn't mention whether there would be strippers at the venue ever again, he has confirmed that it is his dream to get the Club up and running as soon as reasonably possible. The building was virtually destroyed by an arson attack in 1995.
"Top to bottom it's a personal project for me," said Keyte.
"And I hope it is a good news thing for many of the Hereford United supporters of old that can remember that far back when it was operational.
"I can remember being in there as a teenager and seeing a stripper for the first time in my life.
"In fact when I mentioned that at a board meeting, Grenville Smith said 'I think I was there on observation that night'.
"Where it quite fits in with the Blackfriars End project we are yet to finalise but if it is at all possible to open the doors again I'd like to do that.
"To that end we have made a lot of progress. we've had a lot of interest from local tradesmen who have come forward and are prepared to help us with decent quotes."
Understandably Keyte doesn't like the present look of the club although it doesn't look quite so bad with the banners across the windows.
"I've said several times that to walk past there every day - it's that physical image of a club that hasn't moved for fifteen years.
"It's high on the list to tidy that up."
Chairman Ketye's views on what can be done with the venue contrast with those of former chairman Graham Turner.
"There are no plans," said Turner in September 2009.
"We've obviously had a problem with the amount of pigeons and wild life getting into the top there so all that has been cleared out.
"Nothing can be developed, it would have to be pulled down and started again. It can't be patched up the cost would be colossal."
Keyte's quotes come from his latest video available on Bulls Player.
