Preview: Bulls vs Wycombe

The Bulls entertain Wycombe on Tuesday night in a League Two match at Edgar Street.

The two sides have played twice already this season, both at Adams Park, with each holding a narrow win. The Bulls lost 2-1 in the League on Boxing Day before winning 1-0 in the FA Cup two weeks later, with Mathieu Manset scoring both Bulls goals. The Chairboys lost on their last visit to Edgar Street in March 2008, when defender Russell Martin put through his own net for the only goal of the game. On that day current Celtic manager Neil Lennon lined up for the visitors with his current charge Gary Hooper in the Bulls side.

The Bulls face the top two teams in the division in the space of five days, but they should have little fear of a Wycombe side they've been unlucky to lose to. Only a late goal in the League game on Boxing Day saved the home side with boss Gary Waddock admitting the Bulls were the better side. The Bulls are likely to stick with the 4-5-1 that has proved fruitful in recent games, especially with loan striker Waide Fairhust struggling with a virus.

Wycombe have a bit of symmetry about them this season. They've lost five games both home and away, drawn five home and away, and conceded 22 times home and away. Wins are nine away to ten home, and the Chairboys would like to balance that up as well. In recent weeks on the road they've beaten Morecambe, Barnet, and Macclesfield, but drew with Shrewsbury and were routed by Chesterfield. They have no outstanding goalscorer with Scott Rendell on ten League goals often used as a sub, and evergreen midfielder Gareth Ainsworth having nine, while usual stand-out performer Jon-Paul Pittman is yet to find form after missing five months through injury.

Hereford United vs Wycombe Wanderers, Edgar Street, Tuesday 5th April, 7.45pm.
