Bury To Check On Jones

Bury will check on goalscoring midfielder Mike Jones ahead of tomorrow's match at Edgar Street.

The former Tranmere trainee missed the midweek win over Shrewsbury with a virus and will be assessed as late as possible prior to naming the sides. Also missing will be defender Ben Futcher and striker Nicky Ajose, with the Man Utd trainee scoring seven times in 18 games since joining on loan.

Loan defender Tom Lees, on loan from Leeds, told the Bury Times that the Shakers had to be wary of the Bulls: “There are no easy games, and Hereford are one of the form teams in the division,

“This season, in the big night games, like against Chesterfield and Shrewsbury twice, we have played well but when we have played some of the lesser teams, like Stockport, we have struggled to put them to bed. No game is easy, but you climb the table by winning in games where there is not as much hype around them.

“Winning those matches, starting with Hereford on Saturday, will be the key for us. We are third in the league now and teams will see us as a scalp, especially those near the bottom who are fighting for their lives, and we have to make sure the strange results that pop up are not at our expense.”

Manager Alan Knill told the press after Tuesday's game that he would be looking to sign up to three new faces before Saturday, but told their official site:

'We need to bring some players in, but it's not gone very well this week. A lot of clubs do not want to let players out at the moment. It's changed, clubs do not carry big squads anymore and a lot of teams are like us with small squads. They can't afford to carry big squads. We've asked about five players and have been knocked back on all of them.'
