Should have been a Penalty says Buckle

One incident in this afternoon's match at Edgar Street could have changed the outcome of the game according to Torquay manager Paul Buckle.

In the second half after the Bulls had equalised, Eliot Benyon was racing towards the Hereford goal when he appeared, to some of us opposite in the Main Stand, to have dived after little if any contact with Richard Rose.

Buckle saw it from a different angle. This from the Torquay OS.

Although he appeared to then have his heels clipped by a Hereford defender in the box, referee Steve Rushton strangely waved away Yellow protests because of an apparent earlier indiscretion by Benyon.

"I must say I thought it was a stonewall penalty and I am disappointed with that," said Buckle.

"He [Benyon] was clean through and he's had his heels clipped. He's gone down and none of the officials saw it, and it was a turning point in the game.

"I have total respect for the referee. He said to me that it was a penalty but he felt that Benyon had impeded earlier in the run.

"My answer to that was, 'why didn't you blow up straightaway to save any confusion?'

"There was no foul as Benyon approached the goal. Their guy knew what he was doing and they've got away with it.

"It's disappointing because it would have been a penalty and a sending-off."
