News Round Up

Northampton's move to Crewe forward Calvin Zola has hit a stumbling block after Bristol Rovers made a last-minute move for the former Tranmere man. Zola, who hasn't played for four months, has also spoken to Burton. Southend are expected to sign former Chelsea trainee Lee Sawyer after he left Woking by mutual consent. Sawyer spent two loan spells at Roots Hall before falling out with manager Steve Tilson.

Woking have suspended their management team of Graham Baker and Jimmy Dack after the pair 'declared their unhappiness with continuing in their current role' according to a club statement. Bradford midfielder Tommy Doherty will miss six weeks as he needs surgery to cure an ankle problem. Shrewsbury have loaned defender Harry Hooman to Hinckley for a month.

Chesterfield have released striker Martin Gritton by mutual consent. The much travelled 32 year old spent the first half of the season on loan at Torquay, but only made three starts and didn't score. Plymouth have dispensed with the services of goalkeeping coach Geoff Crudgington, who has spent most of the past 30 years at Home Park in various roles, due to cost cutting.

Aldershot have appointed four non-executive directors for a short term period to produce a five year financial plan for the club. Mansfield say midfielder Lee Hendrie backed out of a deal to sign for them at the last minute after receiving a substantial offer to play in Indonesia. Rotherham have extended former youth team midfielder Grant Darley's deal until the end of the season.

Crewe have extended the contract of defender Adam Dugdale until the end of the season, and given midfielder Danny Shelley a one year extension covering next season. Cheltenham have reported a loss of £227,785 for last season after losing a record £826,698 the previous year. Gate receipts fell by £250,000 but they cut the player wage bill from £1.47million to £844,000.

Grimsby boss Neil Woods is under increasing pressure after they lost 2-1 at Evo-Stik league side Chasetown in the FA Trophy. The Mariners are seven points short of the Conference play-offs and have lost successive league matches to Wrexham and York.
