Late Decision at Accrington

The decision to call off this afternoon's game at Accrington came too late to stop most Hereford United supporters setting out for the Crown Ground.

The squad left Hereford yesterday, stopped at Stoke for a training session on route, and stayed overnight closer to Accrington.

And both the HUISA coach and the Funbus had left Edgar Street around 9am this morning so were well on their way.

The Funbus was on the M6 when they heard the news that the game had been called off and are expected to take in another match, possibly at Reading, before returning to Herefordshire.

BN called Accrington to check whether the game was going ahead at 9.45am only to be told that a pitch inspection was to take place. At the time there was no mention of this on either the Hereford United OS or the Accrington OS (which appeared to be down). Why Accrington hadn't informed Hereford by then isn't clear.

Whatever the reasons, those supporters who had set out for Accrington will be annoyed that the decision was taken so late. Luckily this contributer had only just left home when the news came through. Others were nearly two hours into their journey.
