Former Stockport County manager Jim Gannon has been appointed as manager of Port Vale.
He has signed an 18 month deal and will take charge of their squad on Saturday when they play Burnley at Turf Moor in the FA Cup.
Hereford United are currently due to play at Port Vale next Tuesday.
