News Round Up

Accington have denied rumours that recent postponements have caused them to get behind in their tax payments again, however the club does admit it is likely to miss the December 31st deadline to get the capacity of their Crown Ground home up to the Football League's 5,000 minimum requirement. They blame delays on the poor weather, and say the FL are likely to not impose any punishment as a result.

Port Vale are to open discussions with Stoke Council over the £2.25million loan the club received in 2006. They have been paying interest only on the loan over the last two years, and a resumption of normal payments would see another £130,000 a season added to the bill. The has been unrest over the loan having interest charged on it when Stoke City had an interest free deal with the Council.

Histon are claimed to be on the verge of bankruptcy, according to their former Chairman. Tony Roach told the local press the club wouldn't break even if they had 1,000 attendances rather than the current average of 545, and that the club's bank is chasing him and other previous directors for £100,000 the club owes. Roach also claims his stint in charge cost him over £300,000.

Kidderminster are the subject of a takeover bid from Warwickshire based entrepreneur Chris Swan. He has the backing of former chairman Barry Norgrove, and met with shareholders in the week, but wants 100% control of the club. Current chairman Dave Reynolds is against that but has so far only found one person willing to put £50,000 into the club. Harriers face the Conference next Thursday over their misconduct charge.
