Dan Connor will miss Hereford United's League Two match at Burton on Saturday as he has a groin problem.
Either Tom Whitaker or Russell Hoult are expected to join the squad as cover.
"We are waiting on the results of a MRI scan," manager Simon Davey told the Hereford Times.
Davey has also spoken to the paper about his two new signings Amadou Rabihou and Dominik Werling.
"Rabihou will give us a bit more fire-power in the squad.
"As for Werling I brought him in from Turkey when I was manager of Barnsley and then signed him for Darlington.
"He can play in all the left-sided positions.
"He was a last-minute arrival after we heard that he had bought out his contract at Darlington and so was a free agent."
