Diogo Andrade - A Short Profile

Portugese winger Diogo Andrade played 45 minutes in Hereford United's friendly at Telford last night. The 24 year old Diogo Manuel Bebiano Cepeda David de Andrade was born in Lisbon and had some initial success whilst with his first club Belenenses gaining caps at various youth levels.

However he decided to try his luck in England and had a trial with Bournemouth in summer 2004 and after a couple of apperances in friendlies was given a short term contract.

His first game was a Carling Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers when he came on as a substitute. However he failed to impress sufficiently and was sent on loan to Dorchester making 17 starts and scoring four goals. However he suffered an injury and returned to Portugal.

Later that summer he returned to England and had a trial with Gillingham then one with Bristol Rovers. But another injury hampered his chances. Then he had a trial at Carlisle.

In December he joined French club Lavel on a six month deal. He played for their reserves and did well enough to get some first team games. However at the end of the season he quit the club and returned to Portugal and signed for Portimonense.

Unfortunately the club had financial problems and in January 2007 he moved on again, this time to UTA Arad where he signed a three year deal. Again injuries hampered his progress and he was loaned out to Vihren Sandanski in Bulgaria.

Problems with his contract led to another move in October 2009 this time to Farul Constanţa where he made 13 starts.
