News Round Up

Grimsby have ditched 'head of recruitment' John Deehan just two months after he took the role. Lincoln appear to be on the verge of losing keeper Rob Burch after Notts County made him a contract offer. The Imps are themselves chasing Torquay winger Mustafa Carayol, who is said to have rejected a new deal at Plainmoor. Bradford are in talks to make Luke Oliver's loan spell at the club permanent.

Crewe have confirmed the sales of John Brayford and James Bailey to Derby for an initial fee of just over £1million. The pair also have additional clauses and a 15% sell-on deal. The Railwaymen are said to be chasing Macclesfield midfielder Lee Bell, who was released by them three seasons ago, and Cheltenham defender Michael Townsend. Boss Dario Gradi won't be splashing huge amounts of cash this summer, saying the club needs £600-700,000 a season in transfer profits to break even. Burton will receive some of the Brayford fee as part of the 20% sell-on clause they hold.

Oxford are expected to complete a permanent deal for Torquay striker Matt Green, who spent the past season at the Kassam Stadium on loan from the Gulls. Wycombe are chasing former Exeter defender Matt Gill, who is available from Norwich. Stevenage have signed Ebbsfleet defender Darius Charles on a two year deal for a fee to be decided. They have also signed five of their promotion winning squad to new two year deals.

Forest Green have confirmed that Dave Hockaday has agreed a new contract with the club. Accrington will continue to host Burnley's reserve side for the coming season, but they will play fewer games there after pitch problems this term. Peterboro mouthpiece Barry Fry has confirmed that defender Exodus Geohaghon is having talks with an unnamed League Two side. Northampton midfielder Andy Holt has rejected a new two year deal with the club and Adebayo Akinfenwa also looks set to leave. The rotund striker had been asked to make a decision on his contract offer by today (Wednesday) but has failed to commit to Sixfields. "We wanted to reach a quick decision and now we have one so we move on" said Cobblers manager Ian Sampson.

Bristol Rovers have named former Oxford boss Darren Patterson as their new assistant boss. He has been head of youth at the Memorial Ground for the past year. Hartlepool's winding up order against Billingham Town has been adjourned for further evidence to be submitted. The non-league side are saying the original agreement is invalid as it was signed by someone that had no authorisation.
