Trewick Leaves Manager's Job

John Trewick has left the manager's job at Hereford United.

A statement, from Trewick, on the official site reads: 'I have been relieved of my duties as manager of Hereford United FC with immediate effect during an amicable meeting with Graham Turner. I was given the reasons behind the decision which I understand and accept. The most important thing to me is the continued Football League status of Hereford United. I have invested too much time at the Club to see it jeopardised.

'This season was always going to be a time of readjustment and stabilisation, after a poor start and inconsistent results the season turned out just as difficult and challenging as I thought it might be following relegation last season. However, with over a quarter of the season remaining, Hereford United Football Club are 11 points clear of the relegation zone, I don't believe given all the recent circumstances that too much more could have been achieved. I sincerely hope with Graham Turner taking over it instills the all round belief that the Club can finish in a more comfortable position.'

John Trewick's reign at Hereford United lasted a total of 42 games, including the final game of last season. He won just 12, drew 11, and lost 19. There is no mention in the statement on whether Trewick has left the club completely, or will remain as coach under Graham Turner's guidance.

A seperate club statement confirms the news, adding that 'further discussions about the situation will take place next week' and that Graham Turner will resume managerial duties in the short term to allow a long term decision to be made.

In a meeting this morning with Chairman Graham Turner, John Trewick was informed that he was to be relieved of his duties as Hereford United manager.

During the meeting John was given the reason why Graham felt it was necessary to resume management control of the playing staff at this time.

John understood the reasons and further discussions about the situation will take place next week.

The club would like to place on record our thanks for the considerable hardwork he has put into the club both, as manager and coach.

Graham Turner will take over the manager's responsibilities in the short term, a decision will then be made about the long term future.
